It is I, your Duchess, and I am here today to announce that our dear movie is complete.
As we speak, we have already submitted to the first two festivals, Sundance and the Atlanta Film Festival. The journey to this point has been a long and hard road, but it has been an experience. We are eternally grateful for our supporters, who have assisted us in bringing this short film to life. I am most humbled.
And to our post-production team of Nicole Kemper, Brandon Bristol, Brandon Mitchell, and Katherine Brennan; thank you. Thank you for all the hard work you’ve put in, for the countless rounds of edits made, for the behind the scene work on making decisions about music and graphics and whatnot. I’ve taken the past week to just process and let the fact sink in, we have a movie.
This milestone certainly closes one chapter of this journey. When Sir Brandon and I set out to make this film at the start of last year, I didn’t suspect where the journey would take me. Or how hard the journey would be. The current state of affairs in the world certainly has made completion of this film a bit more difficult, but the message and mission have not changed.
To increase Trans visibility. To increase awareness around the importance of mental health, especially in the LGBTQ community. And, to create welcoming, safe, and confirming spaces for all, but especially those in the LGBTQ community.
The next part of this journey is to share this film with others, and while the film will go on the festival circuit for a bit, afterward our plan is to take this film on the road and bring it to you all! I look forward to meeting so many of you once we are able to safely do so.
Again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!
